The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group of scientists that are put in place to persuade leaders on environmental issues, issued a report detailing that climate change was worse than what was previously imagined. Sierra Club Report Shines Bright on Orlando’s Future

In the most recent Sierra Club Report issued on the Sierra Club’s Ready For 100 campaign, they outlined the 10 new communities that were willing to put forth the effort to commit to one-hundred percent renewable energy. One of the new communities outlined in the report was Orlando, Florida.  This was being pushed by the First 50 Coalition in Orlando, which includes local groups that are environmental and also faith-based organizations. Algae Bloom Crisis in Florida: Let’s Beat the Slime

Algae blooms have been occurring in Florida since the 1500s – when Ponce de León first discovered the Sunshine State. The only thing required for an algae bloom is the right water and wind currents. Normally, a season should only last from October to April. Recently, there have been algae bloom seasons that have lasted upwards of 17 months.
