What drew you to IDEAS?
My junior year at UCF, I was enrolled in a writing course that required us to partner with a local organization of our choice to produce a digital campaign. As my team and I had an interest in giving back to the community by creating positive online content, we reached out to IDEAS and worked with them to launch the #GoGreenUCF campaign. From there, I remained in contact with Ricardo. When he mentioned that IDEAS would be initiating their first internship program, I knew it would be the perfect fit for my last undergraduate semester!

Of the 5 pillars of sustainability (energy, water, food, waste, and ecology), which is the most important to you? And why?
Out of the 5 pillars, ecology is the most important to me. Planet Earth just happens to reside in the approximate distance necessary to house life. The environment is what makes our planet uniquely beautiful and I think that since I have the ability to take care of it I should work hard to. Plants and animals need a healthy planet in order to continue to evolve and ultimately, thrive!

What are your plans after graduation?
Upon graduation in May, I plan to spend my summer months traveling Europe and working to save up to move north in the fall. My goal is to find a production agency or publication that focuses on socially and environmentally conscious issues, preferably in a city!

What drew you to IDEAS?
The thing that most drew to IDEAS was the ability to use my knowledge of PR and marketing to make progress towards a more sustainable future for all of us. I also have been very involve with a group that’s involved with reducing food waste, Food Recovery Network, that share similar goals and ideals with IDEAS For US

Of the 5 pillars of sustainability (energy, water, food, waste, and ecology), which is the most important to you? And why?
Food. This is because I have a knack for cooking as well as making sure that no one, regardless of economic and social status, has hunger issues. These are two things I have worked with for a large portion of my life including food drives, soup kitchens, and most recently The Sodexo Foundation Annual Charity Gala. I also enjoy trying to find healthy meals that use locally source meats and vegetables.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation I hope to be working in the Public Relations field. Primarily I would enjoy working for a sports team or College Athletic Department, but I also have interests in sustainability and environmental firms, Corporate Communications, and marketing firms. The long-term plan is to eventually start my own unbiased television media station, think like a NPR TV station.
