IDEAS To Launch Internship Program. Positions Available for Spring 2016

For the Spring 2016 semester, the IDEAS staff will be expanding our team and launching a new Internship Program at our Downtown Orlando office. Interns will work in the areas of Events, Membership, Grants, Social Media, and Fleet Farming. Position descriptions are listed below; all interested parties should contact office manager, Ricardo Williams and send cover letter/resume to ricardo.williams@ideasforus.org

Position Title: Events Intern
Reports To: National Director
Location: Orlando, Florida
Status: 10-15 Hours/Week
Education: College enrollment (recommended)
Compensation: Unpaid; Course Credit available

Position Description
Interning with the IDEAS Events Team is ideal for someone who is passionate about engagement and organizing. This internship will provide an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in learning more about nonprofit fundraising and event planning; as well as offering an exciting hands-on experience with an action-oriented organization. All duties + responsibilities listed below are facilitated under close observation through a mentor-trainee relationship.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Assist in planning and managing IDEAS events
• Manage IDEAS Events Facebook Pages, Calendar, and related posts
• Organize Sign-In Sheets from IDEAS Events
• Work with Development Team to set Event Timeline
• Reach out to community partners on behalf of IDEAS
• Assist at IDEAS Events by tabling

Position Title: Fleet Farming Intern
Reports To: Farm Manager
Location: Orlando, Florida
Status: 10-15 Hours/Week
Education: College enrollment (recommended)
Compensation: Unpaid; Course Credit available

Position Description
Interning for the Fleet Farming program is ideal for someone who is passionate about local, organic food and interested in furthering their experience in the world of urban farming. Interns will assist on location with seeding, weeding, tending to plots, and harvesting. Through the program, the intern will learn about sustainability, installing farmlettes, seeding, growing greens and other edibles, installing irrigation, time management, effectively working in groups, community outreach, and much more. Applicants should be eager to learn, hard working with a positive attitude, and have a sense of humor. All duties + responsibilities listed below are facilitated under close observation through a mentor-trainee relationship.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Assist in planting and harvesting weekly
• Maintaining plots (employing integrative pest management, natural weed control, etc.)
• Assist in garden installs for in-ground beds and DIY irrigation systems
• Set up and assist at the Audubon Park Community Market stand 1-2 Mondays/month
• Attend 1 monthly Swarm Ride with the Team and Community
• Commuting with Farm Manager to/from micro‐farms via bicycle with trailer (will use truck for delivering compost)
• Additional tasks that may arise to carry out the success of the program

Position Title: Grant Writing Intern
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Orlando, Florida
Status: 10-15 Hours/Week
Education: College enrollment (recommended)
Compensation: Unpaid; Course Credit available

Position Description
Interning for Grant Writing with the IDEAS Development Team is ideal for someone who is passionate about fundraising, research, and writing. Interns will assist the development team with searching for grants that are relevant to supporting IDEAS’ mission as well as drafting grant proposals. Interns will also benefit from getting experience on the fundraising process. Applicants should be eager to learn, hard working with a positive attitude, and have a sense of humor. All duties + responsibilities listed below are facilitated under close observation through a mentor-trainee relationship.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Contact donors and prepare Letter of Intents
• Assist with editing and producing grant proposals
• Research daily grants on provided data bases
• Assist with contacting Foundations on behalf of IDEAS For Us
• Assist in printing and organizing office binders of Past and Present grant Proposals
• Research Americorps & Peace Corps Opportunities for IDEAS For Us

Position Title: Membership Intern

Reports To: National Director
Location: Orlando, Florida
Status: 10-15 Hours/Week
Education: College enrollment (recommended)
Compensation: Unpaid; Course Credit available

Position Description
Interning in the IDEAS Membership Team is ideal for someone who is passionate about engagement, organizing, and recruitment. This internship will provide in-depth exposure to chapter development with a global movement. All duties + responsibilities listed below are facilitated under close observation through a mentor-trainee relationship.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Serve as a Public Ambassador of the IDEAS Membership
• Present Slide Deck on IDEAS concept and Membership Levels to students and partners
• Assist National Director with Recruitment Strategy for New Chapters Nationally
• Speak to the importance of taking environmental action on camera
• Assist National Director with Member only events
• Update IDEAS Membership Database with New Members
• Manage IDEAS Member Email list
• Assist with resource development to recruit new chapters and members
• Coordinate monthly IDEAS chapter calls to continue on-going communications with chapter leaders
• Assist with on boarding new chapters and members

Position Title: Social Media Intern
Reports To: Chief Media Officer
Location: Orlando, Florida
Status: 10-15 Hours/Week
Education: College enrollment (recommended)
Compensation: Unpaid; Course Credit available

Position Description
Interning in the IDEAS Media Department is ideal for someone who is passionate about environmental awareness and interested in furthering their experience in the world of creative arts and social media. This internship will provide exposure to copy writing, video production, organic search engine optimization and web analytics, among others. All duties + responsibilities listed below are facilitated under close observation through a mentor-trainee relationship.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Assist in producing blog posts for the IDEAS website.
• Research daily trends, stories, hot topics on blogs and social media
• Assist with editing and producing graphics
• Assist in measuring analytics
• Work with Chief Media Officer to develop and understand social media strategies
