“IDEAS for WPHS” Wins Second Place in First Green Bank Contest

10440713_10152919100034554_7505072180376910076_nCongratulations to the Winter Park High School chapter of the IDEAS movement. They have recently been awarded second place in the “Earth Changing Idea Contest” held by First Green Bank. The ambitious 9th graders plan to build a community garden at their high school. Tim Tensfeldt and Haily Grove from IDEAS for WPHS are pictured left accepting the check.

The contest invited participants to submit a concept that they believed would change earth, starting with their local communities. First place winners (Growing Food) received $1,000 from the First Green Foundation to increase access to healthy, fresh local food, IDEAS for WPHS received $250, and third place winner Jason Daniels from ecoPreserve: Building Sustainability won a $100 gift card to and hopes educators listen and teach sustainability to K-12 students!

With 5 branches located in the state of Florida, First Green Bank is the first bank of its kind to promote positive environmental and social responsibility while operating as a traditional community bank.
