Florida Conservation Coalition Urges Leaders to Protect Florida Waters

The Florida Conservation Coalition, a non-partisan group of non-profit organizations and concerned citizens hosted a news conference on November 30 in the Florida State Capitol Courtyard.

Samantha Ruiz, IDEAS UCF President, along with leaders from Florida Wildlife Federation, 1000 Friends of Florida, Sierra Club and more gathered to urge leaders to protect Florida waters.

Longtime environmental advocate Senator Bob Graham, two-term Florida governor and three-term U.S. Senator, led the event urging elected officials, policy makers and candidates for office to protect and conserve Florida’s natural resources essential to the well-being and quality of life of the residents of this state and its long-term economic prosperity.

“Don’t count out the youth of Florida, we are the future. We will lead this State someday, and ask that we not be left to correct the mistakes of the past. Engage us in a discussion about how today’s decisions affect tomorrow’s water supply.” – S. Ruiz

Congrats to Samantha on your efforts in representing the youth environmental movement in Florida and the IDEAS Movement as a whole! For more on the story, visit
