Bottoms Up Community Gardens (an IDEAS Affiliate Chapter in Oakland, California) Wins Non-Profit of the Month for April 2016
Big news coming out of Oakland, California. In honor of the upcoming Earth Month, IDEAS For Us’ Affiliate Chapter, Bottoms Up Community Gardens, was announced as the Non-Profit of the Month for April 2016 by Oaklandish, a major local apparel and accessories business which promotes civic pride through a series of t-shirts, hoodies and accessories showcasing symbols of the Oakland communities. Aside from their well-known brand, Oaklandish is known for their active engagement and support for local non-profit and community-based organizations – a refreshing style. Having visited our urban farms to see the levels of education, engagement and empowerment taking place in West Oakland, Oaklandish was compelled to recognize our efforts.
As part of being awarded for Non-Profit of the Month, Oaklandish will be co-hosting an event at their Downtown Oakland retail store on Sunday, April 17th from 12pm – 4pm to help raise funds to support our on-going urban farming programs (including Fleet Farming Oakland). During the event we’ll be facilitating a silent auction, facilitating breakout sessions and selling Fleet Greens at the door!
